Interests/Activities:

In my free time I like to mostly spend time with my closest friends. I love to play sports with my friends, mostly volleyball or basketball. If we aren’t playing sports, I also like to go to Silver Spring with my friends to eat, go to Dave & Buster’s, watch movies or when it’s open, go ice skating. Of course most of us are pretty bad at ice skating, so we are mostly falling, but we have lots of fun. On the other hand, if I am not with friends, I typically like to play video games on ps4, sometimes with my sister, other friends or just by myself. My current favorite video games to play are Overwatch, Destiny 2 and Spider-Man. Other than video games, I watch some anime or just listen to Jpop, Kpop or rock music.

Personal Statement:

I have lived in America my entire life, so mostly everything I have been taught revolves around American ideas. But a year ago I wanted to learn about another country’s culture and language. This is about the time I got into Jpop and anime. This made me really interested into Japan and its culture. It made me also realize that I might want to live in Japan for a few years. So for the past couple of months I have been self teaching myself with the Hiragana alphabet. My best friend knew about this and told me to sign up for this program that her sister was in. It took a bit of convincing, but my best friend convinced me to join Japanese Plus. Now I can have an actual native from Japan teach me and the language and the culture.
