Why I joined the program:

In 2024, I went to Japan with my Girl Scout troop. I went on the trip with very little knowledge of Japan other than J-pop and Anime. We went to Tokyo, Yokohama, Hiroshima, and Osaka. While I was there I was so intrigued with the culture, food, architecture (like the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Peace Memorial Park and Museum, the Itsukushima Shrine, and Daisho-in Temple), mannerisms and the community. Although it was an educational trip, the food, people, and culture I was able to experience first hand on my trip made me want to learn more about the history and customs of this great nation. That is why I joined this program.
