Why I joined: I’m in the program because I like the ability to learn new things like languages. This was enhanced by the fact I was able to learn Chinese and my best friend teaching me Korean. Besides that, the differences from place to place pique my interest. The history and architecture of the places around me and how they came to be – it makes you wonder why they were built, how, and the thought process behind it. This goes hand in hand with the different points of view. Lastly, the folklore and myths of the people there – it makes you want to explore or find more.

Personal statement: Currently, I’m enjoying my time so far and I feel good coming. This makes me want to explore, analyze and record. Be able to show the many things the people see everyday as something that brings people closer by the culture they share. Being able to inform and share the facts of Japan, people might have never cared to wonder about. Having the ability and chance to do so inspires me. It inspires my future as well with my dream of being a news anchor. It pushes me to want to inform more and get more takes and views on things. Getting people to listen and open their ears. That’s probably my goal in life and what I strive for.
