School: School Without Walls
Grade: 11
Zodiac sign: Pisces/Year of the Dog
Favorite food: Ice cream
What I care about: I am an advocate for LGBTQ+, women’s rights, and BLM. As a black woman, I believe that all humans, whether they are of a different race, ethnicity, gender, etc, have to have the same rights. Despite this, minority groups are often discriminated against because they are not white males.
Interests/hobbies: If you know me, you would know that I love to read books. My favorite book of all time is Dog Master by Bruce Cameron and the UnWind series by Neal Shusterman. I love participating in different programs because I love to experience different things. For example, I am a member of Mikva Challenge, Key Club, and Fly by Light. When I am home, you will find me in my bed cuddling with either my cat or dog, watching k-dramas or anime. My favorite k-drama is It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.
Aspirations: My biggest goal in life is to help animals in any shape or form. Whether that is to be a veterinarian, marine biologist, or any other career path. In the meantime, I want to travel to all of the continents (except for Antarctica) and learn new cultures. I want to travel the world and learn at least one new thing every day.
Personal statement: For this program, I want to at least be able to converse with Japanese individuals. Japan is culturally and socially way different from America and I want to experience it. Through this program, I want to at least be able to learn the cultural differences, and learn career paths with the Japanese language.
