About Me:

I consider myself a creative and curious person. From learning German to dancing to playing the harp, I enjoy learning about new and different arts and cultures.

Personal Statement:

As a child, my mother took me to the Sackler Gallery of Art, where I was exposed to traditional Japanese art, and gained an interest in Japanese culture. I applied to the Japanese Plus program not only because of my interest in Japanese culture, but also because of my interest in Japanese language. I am interested in languages because of their ability to bridge culture and subject matter. English is a language, as are math and music, Spanish and Japanese. Languages are everywhere, and most people don’t even realize it. They connect people, which is why I like studying them. As an adult, I hope to enter a career where I can help people connect and communicate, so that I can help others and share my passion for languages.
