Hi, I’m Chihiro. I’m the new teacher for Japanese Plus in SY2023-24. I’m originally from Miyagi Prefecture in Japan.

I graduated from Kyoto Seika University. My major was humanities. I like traveling and meeting new people. After I graduated from college, I moved to Okinawa. I volunteered to teach Japanese and math at the Amerasian School in Okinawa while I lived there. Then I went to Australia and stayed there about a year with a working holiday visa. I worked at a high school as a Japanese assistant teacher. I also worked at a Japanese restaurant, on farms and traveled around Australia.

I became an English teacher at a junior high school (middle school) after I got back to Japan. I worked at some junior high schools in Miyagi Prefecture. Then I got an opportunity to work at Manila Japanese school in the Philippines. I worked there for three years.

As for a Japanese teacher career, I took a Japanese teacher training course in Japan and passed the Japanese teaching competency test in 2020. Then I worked at a high school in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan. I taught Japanese to international students (りゅうがくせい）from various countries.

I came to the US in March of 2023. It’s been my pleasure to meet all the students and teach Japanese in this course. I, myself, learn a lot from students. Learning languages is a long journey. Sometimes it’s not easy, however, I believe that learning languages can make your world better and more exciting!! 

 I will try my best for my students to enjoy learning the Japanese language.
