We appreciate your interest in learning more about Globalize DC and our Japan-related programming for DC youth.

Here’s the link to a quick form you can fill out to stay connected with us:

Globalize DC

Globalize DC is a local nonprofit organization created to increase access to global education, study abroad, and language learning opportunities for DC public school students. We are particularly focused on reaching students and educators in schools and communities traditionally underrepresented in these kinds of programs. We also work to move beyond “one off” opportunities to create pipelines for interested students to college and careers. You can check out our website at for more information, and to sign up for our mailing list there.

We are always grateful for tax-deductible contributions that support our work. If you feel so moved, you can make a donation here. You have the option to earmark your donation for Japan programs only.

Globalize DC: Japan

Our Japan programs have their own website at These programs have included Japanese Plus, an intensive afterschool Japanese language, culture, and career exposure program for DC public high school students; Japanese Tamago, an online afterschool Japanese language program offered during the current school year; TOMODACHI US-Japan Youth Exchange Program, a two-way cultural exchange between DC and Japanese teens in DC and Japan; and Japan in DC, a summer program that introduces DC students to the presence of Japan in their own city. All programs are offered at no cost to students.

Be sure to check out our Student Blog and information about our Japanese Tamago program’s new Stop Asian Hate Project.

Japan in DC Book

This 128-page full-color book is based on student writing, photography, and creative work from our summer Japan in DC program. It provides detailed information on people, places, organizations, and institutions in DC with a connection to Japan. All proceeds go directly to support our Japan programs for DC public school students. Purchasing one or more copies of our Japan in DC Book is a great way to help us sustain this work.
